Fall Snowmobile Safety Course Information
Our class will consist of four classes to be held Monday and Wednesday evenings in early November of each year. Sign-up will be through the Muskego Park and Rec Department. All Wisconsin recreational safety students are required to obtain a Wisconsin DNR Customer ID Number before the completion of any recreational safety class and will also be required to provide that customer ID number along with students personal information to the instructor. You can obtain a DNR Customer ID Number by calling DNR customer service from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 1-888-936-7463 or by visiting a DNR service center during their regular scheduled hours.Graduates of the course are
awarded the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Snowmobile Safety Certification.
Snowmobile safety certification is
mandatory for all riders between the ages of 12
& 16 in Wisconsin. The minimum age to take the course is 11, however, the
certification is not awarded until age 12. The following subjects are
taught in the course: - First Aid
- State Snowmobile Laws
- Hand Signals
- Compass Readings and Usage
- Snowmobile Safety
- Snowmobile Control
Additionally, a snowmobile is brought into the classroom for hands-on
parts identification and maintenance instruction. The student is taught what
safety features are present on a snowmobile and how to do minor maintenance such
as changing the belt and plugs. |
